We fish the lower Niagara river regularly. It's a challenging environment, but it's well worth the trouble of learning to fish it. We started out using guides (and still frequently do; they boost your success factor by an order of magnitude), but we've fished it so often now that that we've taken to just heading out there and catching some fish on our own.
Of course, the guides we've gotten to know are always helpful in giving us fishing tips, even when we're not fishing with them (they'll yell from their boats your leader's not long enough or offer other advice (like get your head out of you ass!). No wait... that was the Walleye guide in Oswego....
Check out some of the pictures from our Niagara fishing trips (both guided and unguided) and see if this isn't a must-do fishing trip for you!
